READJUST
The READJUST project aims to suggest policy options for overcoming potential trade-offs between efficiency and equality in the twin transitions, focusing on the key sectors of mobility and agri-food. The project contributes to the development of fair and just policies for the twin transitions, seeking to mitigate existing inequalities and minimize their unintended consequences. We strive to address the inequalities that are created or exacerbated by twin transition policies in specific domains.

The policies guiding Europe’s journey towards sustainability and digitalization aim to create fair and inclusive growth. They are meant to turn the goals of the EU Green Deal and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into real results. However, these policies can also produce unintended consequences—sometimes creating new inequalities or deepening existing ones.
This is where the READJUST project comes in. It recognizes that local, national, and European authorities need practical tools and solutions to address the inequalities arising from the green and digital transitions.
READJUST provides policy options that aim to balance efficiency with fairness in the twin transitions, focusing on the transportation and agri-food sectors. The project identifies the inequalities these transitions may cause and seeks to understand the underlying mechanisms behind them.
To support this effort, the project is developing the READJUST Observatory, which includes a Policy Tracker Tool, an Inequality Index, and an Equality Self-Assessment Tool. These tools are being tested with stakeholders directly involved in managing the twin transitions, and their feedback will inform the development of a roadmap for promoting equality throughout these processes. READJUST also works to engage policymakers, encouraging them to adopt the tools and supporting them in their implementation.
YAGHMA coordinates the READJUST project and is responsible for ensuring the successful execution of all project activities. As a partner in the project, YAGHMA oversees the development of the two AI-based tools within the READJUST Inequality Observatory:
Policy Tracker Tool: This tool collects relevant policies, actions, and best practices to assess how effectively they align with national and global goals for equality in the green and digital transitions.
Equality Self-Assessment Tool: This tool enables policymakers to evaluate the impact of their policies on equality, helping them identify strengths and areas for improvement.
Our consortium partners are:
VTT (FI)
Fraunhofer (DE)
EIT Food (European organisation based in BE)
EIT Urban Mobility (European organisation based in DE)
SOLIDAR (BE)
EURICE (DE)
University of Amsterdam (NL)
The project has started on the 1st of March 2024 for a total duration of 42 months.
