About this position

Are you experienced in assessing risks of digital and AI systems and translating complex regulatory, ethical, and societal requirements into practical frameworks?

At YAGHMA B.V., we are looking for an AI Risk Assessment & Governance Specialist to strengthen our work on AI impact assessment, governance, and compliance across both research and industrial projects.

In this role, you will contribute with a deep understanding of how risk assessment works in practice and how it can be meaningfully adapted to AI systems across sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, energy, mobility, and public services. You will work closely with our team to translate established risk management approaches into practical, structured, and scalable AI impact assessment methodologies, supporting both our research activities and our platform, SurikaS.

At YAGHMA, we assess the non-financial and non-technical impacts of new technologies to help our clients and partners create positive societal impact. We actively participate in European and international research projects and collaborate with public and private organisations working at the forefront of AI and digitalisation.

Key Responsibilities

1. AI Risk Assessment & Methodology Development

• Contribute to the development and refinement of AI risk and impact assessment frameworks, drawing on established risk management, governance, and compliance practices;
• Translate real-world risk assessment processes into AI-specific assessment methodologies, covering operational, ethical, social, governance, and regulatory risks, within both research projects and applied use cases;
• Identify relevant AI risks for specific projects as well as identify potential mitigation measures;
• Extrapolate risks identified in specific projects to develop sector-wide applicable risk maps across ethical, social, governance, and regulatory dimensions;
• Contribute to aligning assessment approaches with emerging AI governance and regulatory requirements.

2. Assessment & Advisory Work

• Perform risk and impact assessments of AI systems using qualitative and, where relevant, quantitative methods;
• Analyse ethical, social, governance, and compliance risks across different stages of the AI lifecycle;
• Support assessments in applied contexts, including client-facing and collaborative research environments;
• Monitor and evaluate risks and impacts of AI systems over time.

3. Reporting & Stakeholder Engagement

• Prepare clear, well-structured reports on AI risks and impacts for diverse audiences, including project partners, clients, and policymakers;
• Engage with multidisciplinary and international stakeholders, translating complex risk concepts into actionable insights;
• Support workshops, discussions, and review processes related to AI governance and risk mitigation.

4. Research & Knowledge Development

• Stay up to date with developments in AI governance, risk management, compliance, and digital regulation;
• Contribute to literature reviews and background research related to AI risk, impact assessment, and monitoring;
• Support the integration of research insights into YAGHMA’s tools, frameworks, and platform development.

Profile We Are Looking For

We are looking for a professional who combines risk management expertise with a strong understanding of AI and digital systems.

Required Qualifications

• A master’s degree (or higher) in a relevant field such as technology governance, risk management, public policy, digital transformation, data/AI-related fields, or similar;
• At least 5 years of professional experience in consulting, advisory on risk assessment, governance, compliance, or advisory roles, preferably related to digital technologies or AI;
• Demonstrated experience working with structured risk frameworks, assessments, or audits in complex organisational contexts;
• Strong analytical and conceptual skills, with the ability to translate abstract requirements into practical assessment approaches;
• Excellent written and spoken English.

Desirable Qualifications

• Familiarity with ethical, social, legal, and governance dimensions of AI systems;
• Experience with regulatory, compliance, or assurance of AI (e.g. internal controls, governance frameworks, or audits);
• Experience in European or international collaborative projects is an asset.

Personal Attributes

• Structured, critical thinker with a pragmatic mindset;
• Comfortable working in multidisciplinary and international teams;
• Curious, reflective, and motivated to improve how AI risks are understood and managed in practice;
• Able to balance methodological rigor with real-world applicability.

What We Offer
