About this position
Are you experienced in managing European research and innovation projects and interested in advancing sustainability, circular economy, and the transition towards more circular material and product systems?
At YAGHMA, we are looking for an EU R&D Project Manager – Circular Economy and Sustainable Materials to support the coordination and implementation of international research and innovation projects and contribute to the development of new European project proposals.
In this role, you will coordinate project activities, represent YAGHMA in international consortia, monitor the implementation of project tasks and deliverables, and facilitate collaboration between researchers, project partners, stakeholders, and YAGHMA’s software development team. You will also contribute to new proposals in areas such as sustainable materials, circular manufacturing, waste and resource management, and the reuse, refurbishment, remanufacturing, and recycling of end-of-life products.
This is not a software development position. However, several of our projects involve the development of digital tools and platforms. You will therefore play an important role in translating project needs into clear requirements, coordinating the contribution of our software team, and ensuring that digital developments remain aligned with the project objectives and contractual commitments.
At YAGHMA, we assess the non-financial and non-technical impacts of new technologies to help our clients and partners create positive societal and environmental impact. We actively participate in European and international research projects and collaborate with universities, research organisations, public authorities, industry partners, SMEs, and civil-society organisations.
Key Responsibilities
1. EU Project Coordination and Delivery
Coordinate the day-to-day implementation of European research and innovation projects, including YAGHMA’s own responsibilities;
• Monitor work plans, tasks, deliverables, milestones, KPIs, deadlines, risks, and agreed actions;
• Translate YAGHMA’s contractual commitments into clear internal responsibilities and expected outputs;
• Contribute substantive content on sustainability, circular economy, materials, and end-of-life systems or/and Climate adaptation and mitigation;

3. Proposal Development and Business Development
• Monitor and analyse relevant European and national funding opportunities;
• Contribute to the preparation and submission of new research and innovation proposals;
• Contribute technical content related to circular economy, sustainable materials, circular manufacturing, waste management, and end-of-life products; or contribute technical content related to climate adaptation and mitigation
• Support consortium building and coordination with prospective project partners;
4. Research & Knowledge Development
• Stay up to date with developments in AI governance, risk management, compliance, and digital regulation;
• Contribute to literature reviews and background research related to AI risk, impact assessment, and monitoring;
• Support the integration of research insights into YAGHMA’s tools, frameworks, and platform development.
Profile We Are Looking For
We are looking for a professional who combines strong EU project-management experience with a relevant technical or scientific background in sustainability, circular economy, environmental engineering, materials, or climate adaptation and mitigation or a closely related field.
The ideal candidate is able to understand multidisciplinary technical content, coordinate complex international projects, communicate confidently with research and industrial partners, and translate technical developments into clear project plans, reports, and proposal content.
Required Qualifications
Desirable Qualifications
• Direct experience with Horizon Europe, Horizon 2020, LIFE, or similar European funding programmes;
• Experience preparing and submitting European research and innovation proposals;
• Experience in one or more relevant industrial sectors, such as materials, manufacturing, textiles, packaging, batteries, or climate adaptation and mitigation.
• Experience coordinating digital platforms, decision-support tools, databases, or other software-related project outputs;
• Knowledge of Dutch or another European language is an advantage.
